Looking up
Looking Up “Looking Up is a Contemporary Christian Rock band in South Eastern Michigan. We are a ministry dedicated to spreading the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through music. Although we are a rock band, our music is very diverse and includes praise and worship as well as thought provoking ballads. The beginnings of Looking Up go back as far as 15 years ago when drummer, Blaine Thiel, and guitarist, Richard Engle began playing together. The addition of bassist, Bob Bolton, several years later would solidify the core of the band. These first 3 members have gone through many other personnel and style changes, but have remained committed to God's call. The last member, singer and guitar player Kevin Brown, would join the band in November of 2000, forming the band that is today known as Looking Up. Robert, Richard, and Kevin all ride Harley's and God has used this passion as yet another tool for ministry. At a young age she was tenderly remembered as “the little girl standing on the piano bench singing her heart out for Jesus.” Amy Brooke was born in Lansing, Michigan. She began traveling with her family singing southern gospel music. Their family took up music full-time in the church in 1995. Amy felt a natural desire to continue pursuing music by attending North Central University in Minneapolis, MN and attained her Bachelors of Science in Music. Amy Brooke has a wide variety of musical interests such as contemporary Christian, classical, jazz and her personal favorite gospel. Amy is currently forming a new ministry at her church called, Praise Gathering. It is a worship event that is a fusion of prayer, music and reflection on the goodness of God. Amanda Cherie

Amanda Cherié Nelsen started her musical career at a young age through traveling with her family, singing southern gospel music. Their father was truly the minister, but he always expressed his desire for the entire family’s support and it was reflected in every member’s involvement. Amanda attended North Central University in Minneapolis, MN. Her time in college resulted in a wealth of musical/vocal experience and education and her Bachelo or Arts in Music.
Amanda married Robert Nelsen on July 17, 2004. In 2006, they established Amanda Cherié Music Ministries and were quickly working together in music around the country. In late 2007, Amanda completed her first original CD project, “Run Home.” It is a compilation of Amanda’s best writing from the past few years. The project is a reflection of the struggles and victories she has faced.
